Details

Introduced in 1897, this pattern was named after Marly Castle, built near Paris by Louis XIV. Marly Castle served as a place to entertain guests after hunting and a place of respite where the strict etiquette of Versailles was not necessary. Louis XV spent much of his time at Marly and the interior was decorated to his personal tastes. Grand statues of horses, called the Marly Horsesonce graced Marly's gardens but now stand where the Champs Elysees joins the Place de la Concorde.
